Interschool Hockey Match

Last Monday, the Football Foundation hosted a friendly interschool hockey game between the Gansbaai team and Okkie Smuts Primary School at the Gansbaai Sports Field.

 

A total of 30 kids, aged 8-14, kept their adrenalines up as they competed and supported each other throughout the course of the game.

 

The Gansbaai team won both rounds with the first game at 4:1 and the second game at 1:1. Many of the kids from the Okkie Smuts Primary team have just begun learning to play hockey and were extremely eager to have the chance to play with another school.

 

This event is one of many games that will be hosted to increase the Football Foundation’s aim to expand our hockey programmes. We are also happy to announce that we have selected 10 children from both teams to participate in the Youth Hockey Festival in Cape Town that will be held next week on March 22 where over 200 teams will be competing against each other.
