Recipient of the KLM Awards

Cha Inn Moon - February 20, 2014

Congratulations to our Managing Director, Leán Terblanche, for winning this year’s KLM’s International Women’s Day Award!

KLM, the Royal Dutch Airlines, hosts annual global awards to recognize outstanding women of leadership in commemoration of International Women’s Day that is held every 08th of March. This year, the theme for the award is “Inspiring Change” and it aims to highlight one South African woman that has uplifted and made a difference to a community in South Africa.

Leán has been chosen for this year’s award as her dedication to empower young individuals through sport has been evident through her strong leadership and supportive guidance. For the past six years, she has made great strides in transforming communities around the Western Cape region by implementing sustainable community development projects that have provided thousands of children valuable skills based training, educational programmes, and sports activities.

We hope that she enjoys her three-day trip for two to Amsterdam next week and that she spends a wonderful flight back to South Africa on International Women’s Day, the 08th of March with an all-female crew on KLM!

This award would not have been made possible without the big support of our previous Project Coordinator, Erika Mueller, who decided to share Lean’s story all the way from the U.S. We hope that she enjoys the KLM hamper that she received as part of her appreciative efforts as well!

The FFSA team wishes to use this opportunity to inspire young girls and women in South Africa and abroad to start dreaming big and inspire change!
